August 2007

Dear Friends,

As Dinosaur Annex Music Ensemble begins its thirty-third season we take great pride in continuing our legacy of programs dedicated to the performance of contemporary chamber music in the vibrant, Boston arts community. Once again, this season offers three multifaceted concerts by diverse composers from established modern masters to the newly emerging.

On the first program you will hear four Boston premieres - Thomas Ades, Yu-Hui Chang, Judith Shatin and Stephen Hartke - as well as a repeat performance of Lansing McLoskey’s beautiful and moving Requiem, ver. 2.001. Special artists include conductor Michael Adelson and mezzo-soprano Pamela Dellal, both frequent guests on Dinosaur Annex concerts. In January our fourth Young Composers Festival welcomes another new generation to Dinosaur Annex. We are delighted to present a commission by Mark Berger, as well as works by rising composers John Bower, Chris Gendall, Kevin Patton and Kate Soper. The third and final concert of the season highlights our terrific percussionist and newest Dinosaur Annex member Robert Schulz, who will perform a specially commissioned work by Shih-Hui Chen in addition to works by Iannis Xenakis, Scott Lindroth, Amy Williams, and the 1964 percussion classic, The King of Denmark by Morton Feldman.

Please join us as we embark on an exciting trip to ever-new musical lands!
