About the Event

On Sun. April 14, come hear us at the Cambridge Science Festival, at MIT’s Killian Recital Hall. “Not-So-Heavy Metals” features transducers and sheet metals in a display of sonic playfulness, melding sound processing with live instruments. Composers and sound artists David Coll and Patricia Alessandrini display their technical wizardry, complemented by several short works by MIT Composition Seminar students. And to complete this sonic adventure, we present a brand new work by MIT’s MLK Visiting Scholar Matt Schumaker, specially commissioned for the 2019 Cambridge Science Festival.

Featuring the voice of Aliana de la Guardia, Anne Black on viola, and Diane Heffner on clarinets.

Sponsored by the Cambridge Arts Council, a local agency of the Mass Cultural Council, the Center for the Arts at MIT, the Ditson Fund, and MIT Music/Theater Arts.

Free and open to the public!
